There are many ways to volunteer your services at Safe Harbor Children's Shelter. Are you interested in working with kids? Would you rather do something in the office? Would you like to become a member of our Auxiliary and help to raise money through a variety of activities? Would you like to volunteer for just a couple hours a month? Or would you like to volunteer more time? Whatever your interests and availability, we have something for you.Becoming a Shelter Volunteer When you become a volunteer with Safe Harbor Children's Shelter, we want it to be a rewarding experience for you, the children, and the staff. With that in mind, we have developed a process to help us achieve that goal. What follows are the steps involved in becoming a volunteer. Step 1: Come to Safe Harbor Children's Shelter for an informational meeting. This will help you decide about the volunteer experience. You will be given a tour of the facility as well as a chance to view our video and ask whatever questions you may have. Step 2: Complete the volunteer paperwork that our Volunteer Coordinator will give you. Step 3: The Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to set up an orientation/training session based on your convenience. Step 4: Your orientation/training session will include instruction in the sign in/out process, introduction to staff, and review of Shelter policies. Step 5: The Volunteer Coordinator will contact you with assignments on a regular basis. To inquire about becoming a volunteer, please contact Tina Whaley.
